About Togo

Togo is a slender ribbon of West Africa squeezed between Ghana and Benin, stretching from a short Gulf of Guinea coastline to savanna hills in the north. Lomé, the palm-lined capital, sits unusually hard against the Ghanaian border. Phosphates, coffee and cocoa drive the economy, while the country remains a heartland of the Vodun religion that later crossed the Atlantic as voodoo.
