About Ghana

Ghana faces the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa, its coastline dotted with historic forts and its interior rich in gold, cocoa farms and forest. The capital, Accra, is a lively Atlantic port and cultural hub. Once known as the Gold Coast, Ghana blazed a trail in 1957 as the first sub-Saharan colony to win independence, and its name honours a medieval African empire.
