About Gabon

Gabon sits astride the equator on Africa's Atlantic coast, with rainforest cloaking nearly nine-tenths of its territory and sheltering forest elephants and lowland gorillas. Its capital, Libreville, faces the Gulf of Guinea, while a network of thirteen national parks protects beaches, lagoons and jungle interior. Oil wealth and sparse settlement have left much of Gabon's wilderness remarkably intact.
