About Bahrain
Bahrain, an archipelago in the Persian Gulf, is one of Asia's smallest countries yet one of its oldest trading hubs, heir to the ancient Dilmun civilization. Its capital, Manama, rises beside a harbor once famous for natural pearls, and a causeway links the main island to Saudi Arabia. Freshwater springs bubbling beneath salty seas gave the country its name, which means 'two seas' in Arabic.
